For the last thirty years he’s been buying, reading about, researching and popularizing games, and trying to create one or two of his own. About fifteen years ago he invented the communications company Hores extraordinàries, and it’s now three years since he left the firm to devote himself full-time to games. He is currently working for the Universal Forum of Cultures Barcelona 2004, with a special focus on games. Anna and he have been living together for six years now, and he says things couldn’t be better. Don’t bother calling for him on Thursdays – he’s out playing.

He has always liked playing around with rocks, so much so that he took a degree in Geology at the Universitat de Barcelona. Since then, however, he’s spent more time playing around with words: he compiles the daily Catalan crossword in the newspaper El Periódico, and —skilfully shuffling those little beige tiles— he won the All-Catalonia Scrabble Championship in 1997. He also shuffles cards from time to time for the odd hand of botifarra or eleusis. And he does all this shuffling to an impeccable salsa rhythm. Don’t bother calling for him on Thursdays – he’s out playing.
